The precise definition of a classic or vintage car varies depending on what industry or country you are in. In the UK a vehicle built before 1973 is exempt from paying vehicle tax and is recorded as a ‘historic’ vehicle. HMRC class any vehicle that is more than 15 years old and worth more than £15,000 as being a classic car. For insurance purposes many insurers deem any vehicle over 10 years old as a classic.
