A Strong Start to 2025

For all of us here at JMP, the first two months of 2025 have been full of excitement, development, and opportunities. From the launch of our JMP Property Networking Breakfast to a trip to Lloyd’s of London and behind the scenes developments to our cyber insurance offering, we’ve been committed to strengthening relationships and our expertise.

Building Connections at our First JMP Events of The Year

JMP Property Networking Breakfasts

The first two months of 2025 have been full of JMP events and networking!

We successfully launched the JMP Property Networking Breakfast in January, an event dedicated to bringing together our clients and business friends in property and those who complement the sector or associated lifestyle. With over 25 businesses attending each event, these mornings have been full of insightful conversations, collaboration, and relationship-building.

JMP Supper Club

January also saw the return of our JMP Quarterly Supper Club, where for our first of 2025, 50 business owners and directors came together at Muse Brasserie here in Cheltenham. The evening was filled with exceptional food and wine, connecting professionals whom our Managing Director knows and trusts to expand their networks in a relaxed yet purposeful setting. A huge thank you to our clients and business friends who made the event our best JMP Supper Club yet!

The Grand Coronation Ball

February brought a spectacular evening at the Queens Hotel Cheltenham for the Grand Coronation Ball 2025. The event was the perfect combination of glamour and giving, featuring a sparkling drinks reception, a three-course meal, and a lively charity auction.

Thanks to the generosity of our guests, we raised vital funds for two fantastic causes:

  • Emily’s Gift – Supporting children undergoing cancer treatment in Gloucestershire.
  • FISHAC – Preserving the historic railings and entrances of Imperial Square Gardens.

Special appreciation goes to Vinotopia Wine, British Bespoke Auctions, photographer Kate Kasia Tarnowska, and our fellow committee members, Julie Kent MBE, Frank Smith & Co Solicitors and HeadOn PR.

Industry Insights

A Visit to Lloyd’s of London

In February, John Phillips, our Managing Director, and Edward Hampshire, one of our Commercial Account Executives, attended the Citynet Insurance Brokers ‘Meet the Market’ event. The highlight of the day was an exclusive tour of the iconic Lloyd’s of London, one of the most historic institutions in our industry. At JMP, we value strong relationships in the London market, and events like these help us maintain our edge in providing solutions for niche risks.

Apprenticeship Panel Talk

Hallie Mant, our Marketing Executive, is the face behind all of our marketing, events and collaborations at JMP. Nearing completion of her apprenticeship, Hallie was recently invited to speak on the apprentice panel at the Gloucestershire College Apprenticeship Open Evening. Sharing her journey and lessons learned at JMP so far, Hallie highlighted the incredible value of apprenticeships and how they can shape careers.

Welcome to Our New Team Members!

We’ve introduced two fantastic additions to the JMP team:

  • Jonny Cahill (Account Handler) – Bringing excellent people skills and endless enthusiasm, Jonny will be maintaining and servicing our book of personal lines policies at JMP.
  • Maureen Bantock (Office Manager & Account Handler) – A familiar face to some of our team, Maureen brings extensive industry experience and exceptional organisational skills.

We are thrilled to have Jonny and Mo onboard for their next chapter. They are both invaluable assets to both our clients and the rest of the team, have settled in wonderfully, and are already making an impressive mark!

Cyber Insurance

One of our Commercial Account Executives, Will Morrison, has been working hard on our cyber insurance offering.

Many businesses still believe they don’t need cyber insurance but with cyber threats on the rise and rated the number one risk to organisations, it’s Will’s priority to ensure our clients are informed and protected.

It is easy to imagine a business premises going up in flames, but the damage a cyber incident can do can be far more destructive, and the consequences can be much further reaching than you imagine, both financial and reputational. The sad fact is 60% of SMEs fold within 6 months of a cyber incident so it’s important to get the right advice to understand how a cyber incident can affect your business.

“I head up our cyber offering at JMP, and part of my role as an Account Executive is ensuring that if the worst were to happen, my clients aren’t left picking up the pieces alone. I’ve found the most valuable aspect of cyber cover for my commercial clients is that it not only provides financial protection against the rise of cyber-attacks but also provides access to a whole range of technical and legal experts who are effectively on retainer to the policyholder through their purchasing of a cyber policy, which many businesses might not otherwise be able to afford or invest in.” – Will Morrison
